A week away in Edinburgh, in the campervan. I had not packed all of my camera gear as I was not anticipating there would be much to photograph; I was kind of wrong there!
The photo at the top is one of the Highland Cattle that was in the field next to the campsite. At least this one has two complete horns. The other was missing half of one and it was turned down! Who knows whether it was born this way or it had a traumatic accident earlier in its life!
As usual though, they are lovely animals to see and always draw people to them.
On our break we experienced most kinds of weather; gales, rain, sun and snow! When we woke on the third morning it was a complete white-out! It was beautiful though and we had a lovely walk from the campsite and over the nearby golf course. A few minutes into the walk I paused for a moment, and out of nowhere a Kestrel landed on a branch nearby. It stayed long enough for me to get a few photos before it swooped down onto the field, but was then chased away by some crows!
On another day we headed out from the campsite on a circular walk to take in Braid Hills. It was another good walk, though I did take us in the completely wrong direction to start with. However, it was a happy accident as we walked up nearby hills and had great views of Edinburgh City, the Castle and Arthur’s seat.
We stopped for lunch at a pond, which had swans, tufted ducks (amongst other ducks) and a heron.
All in all a great trip, with some unexpected pleasures.
